Refaire du Fer – Vol 1 : « Eisenzäit »

« Refaire du Fer, Vol.1 » – Day 1 (20.06.2025)

This year, we launched the first edition of our new series « Refaire du Fer » which presents the history of iron. In this first edition, we focussed on the Iron Age, and more concretely on archaeology and (pre)-industrial history.

The day before the public event, we had the pleasure to welcome the 7G2 class of the Lycée Aline Mayrisch Luxembourg. The highly motivated teenagers learned a lot about metallurgy, and they muck in themselves. Collaborations with schools are immensely important for us, because we love to share our “savoir-fer” with young people.

Day 2 (21.06.2025)

In this first edition, we focussed on the Iron Age, and more concretely on archaeology and (pre)-industrial history.

We offered demonstrations of historical practices and techniques, we were able to present our own archives and historical pieces and were able to exhibit exclusive pieces from our friends from the Rural Museum of Peppeng and Dr. Marc Schaack from AHME. The Hephaistos Brotherhood was also present with blacksmith animations, and of course, there was also food.

International expert Rémy Nicolle was also there for a conference on the history of metallurgy.

The highlight of the day was a demonstration at the low shaft furnace by our team, led by experimental metallurgy expert Romain Bohr, which resulted in the production of a 15kg bloom!

Join us in looking forward to the continuation of this exciting series in the coming years.
