The event stays the same—just the location has changed!
Due to construction currently underway at the Metzeschmelz site, access to the Atelier Central is temporarily restricted. To ensure our October 17 event—dedicated to the site’s future—goes ahead as planned, part of our European Heritage Days program will be held, on an exceptional basis, at our colleagues’ space at DKollektiv in VEWA, Dudelange, Neischmelz. As a cultural hub dedicated to creativity and heritage, VEWA is a fine example of how to revitalize an existing space and aligns with the approach that FerroForum aims to pursue.
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, join us at VEWA starting at 11:00 a.m.
The day will begin with a presentation on the theme “A Sustainable Vision for the Atelier Central,” focusing on the challenges of developing and revitalizing the Atelier Central in Esch-sur-Alzette, in the presence of FerroForum’s partners: the Schmelzaarbechter Museum and the Friends of the History and Museum of the City of Esch. The event will continue with a presentation of several examples of the repurposing and revitalization of industrial heritage, notably the 1535° in Differdange and, of course, the VEWA in Dudelange. The presentation will be followed by a social gathering featuring local specialties to share and a concert by Luciano Pagliarini and his orchestra.
While the venue may change, the essence of the event remains the same: the FerroForum, its history, its richness, its expertise, and above all, its future. We invite you to join us in discussing how the Atelier Central can continue to thrive, pass on its legacy, and reinvent itself.
