On 21 June 2025, come and see a demonstration of the low shaft furnace by our expert in experimental metallurgy, forge animations by our friends from the Confrérie Hephaïstos, a thematic exhibition and a conference on the work of palaeometallurgists!
Based in the heart of the Metzeschmelz, in the Atelier Central of the former Esch-Schifflange factory, which is currently being refurbished, we are launching a project focusing on the history of iron, which will run for several years. The first part is devoted to the Iron Age, covering archaeology and (pre-)industrial history, demonstrating historical practices and techniques, and presenting archives and historical artefacts in cooperation with partner organisations.
